The Red Delicious Apple variety is one of the worldās most widely grown apple varieties by apple growers and is among the easiest and most dependable apple trees to grow. Although it is not the most consumed apple in the United States, it is one of the mostĀ widely producedĀ in North America.
Beautiful clusters of pink buds open to reveal creamy white blooms in early spring. The tree produces a medium to large fruit that will continue to grow and ripen through the summer.
From September to October the apples will turn from a pale green to their familiar bright red color, signaling that they are ripe and ready to be picked. A deep red peel and sweet flavored white flesh make a tempting snack. It is one of our most favorite apple trees for the delicious taste.
The fruitās thin skin and delicious crispness make the Red Delicious apple ideal for eating fresh off the tree and for baking. Around 700 chill hours will be needed for this apple tree. This popular apple tree bears fruit within 2-3 years of planting.
HOW TO CARE FOR RED DELICIOUS APPLE TREES
This semi dwarf tree grows up to 15-20 feet tall and wide at maturity. Apple red Delicious tree grows best across the United States in USDA growing zones 4-8.
